Government backs automatic referral to small claims mediators

The Government has today published its response to the County Court consultation 'Solving disputes in the county courts'.  Their conclusions include the automatic referral to a mediator of all claims below the current small claims limit of £5,000, at present some 80,000 cases per year.

The CMC will issue a full press release shortly commenting on these and other proposals many of which have profound implications for the CMC and the mediation community as a whole.
